About
Festival TransAmériques (FTA) is an internationally recognized performing arts festival held annually in Montreal, Quebec, dedicated to contemporary dance and theatre from Canada and around the world. With more than four decades of history, the festival brings together leading choreographers, directors, and performers to present innovative productions, world premieres, and collaborative works that explore social, cultural, and artistic issues through live performance. Each edition attracts artists and audiences from multiple countries and serves as an important platform for showcasing Quebec and Canadian performing arts on the global stage.
The festival also integrates sustainability and social responsibility into its operations and programming. FTA promotes eco-responsible event practices, including encouraging public transit, cycling, and other low-impact transportation for festivalgoers, and incorporates sustainability considerations in its event planning and outreach activities. An eco-fee on tickets contributes to carbon offset initiatives and environmental projects, supporting the festival’s efforts to reduce the environmental footprint of large cultural events.
Through international artistic exchange, community engagement, and environmentally conscious event management, Festival TransAmériques contributes to Montreal’s cultural vitality while promoting responsible and inclusive cultural programming.
