Quartier des Spectacles Partnership manages and promotes Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles, a one-square-kilometre cultural district in downtown Montreal recognized as one of the largest concentrations of performing arts venues in North America. The district is home to more than 80 cultural venues and public spaces and hosts around 40 festivals annually, including internationally recognized events such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival and Francos de Montréal. Through collaboration with cultural institutions, businesses, and government partners, the Partnership supports the development, promotion, and year-round animation of Montreal’s creative and cultural economy.
Sustainability is integrated into the district’s long-term urban development and event management strategies. Redevelopment initiatives have focused on sustainable public spaces, pedestrian-friendly design, and multi-use plazas, such as Esplanade Tranquille, which supports year-round programming while improving urban livability. The district also incorporates environmentally conscious infrastructure and cultural facilities—including green buildings like the LEED-certified Centre for Sustainable Development—and works with festivals and partners to explore sustainable funding and operational models that support the long-term vitality of Montreal’s cultural sector.
