GreenStep has become the first North American-based GSTC-Recognized Standard Owner to make GSTC Certification available to hotels, accommodations and tour operators. Through a partnership with RoyalCert, a GSTC-Accredited Certification Body, tourism businesses can now pursue independent third-party certification against the GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Standard, giving operators a globally recognized way to verify their sustainability practices and strengthen their standing with travellers, trade partners and booking platforms alike.

Regional Tourism Organization 8 (RTO8) has achieved Silver Destination Certification for Kawarthas Northumberland through GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard, marking an important milestone in the region’s sustainability journey. The internationally recognized designation reflects meaningful progress in destination management, environmental stewardship, and community well-being, while positioning the region to grow tourism responsibly for the long term.
